Corona News India: National Lockdown Extended For 2 More Weeks

According to Corona News India :On May 1, the Modi government pushed the lockdown till May 17. Due to the increasing and diversifying pandemic of COVID-19, the Government of India took a very important and obvious step to prevent the widespread coronavirus.

The Home Ministry decided to increase the lockdown but eventually eased some restrictions. As per the latest corona news reports, places like schools, worship places, air travels, colleges, hotels, malls, and other public places will be closed. The activities are customized according to the zones. Red, Orange, and Green zones were customized by the government of India in order to examine the widespread COVID-19 region wise.

Red Zones

These are the COVID-19 “HOTSPOTS” where the government will pay more attention. Use of proper surveillance, contact tracing along with 100% coverage use of Arogya Setu app in these areas. Particular industrial units, shops, agricultural activities, and some other licensed industries are given permission to work at a given time period but with proper precautions. A total of around 170 districts are designated under the red zone. Some highlighted red zones are: Delhi, Mumbai, Banglore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, etc.

According to the Health Ministry, the red zone where no cases will be reported within 28 days, will be declared as a green zone, while those who don’t report any case within 14 days will be considered as orange zones.

Orange Zones

More activities are permitted in these zones as compared to red zones. Taxis are permitted, but with 1 driver and 1 passenger only. The zones which are not declared as red or green are also counted under the orange zone.

Geen Zones

The green zone will cover all those districts where there are no confirmed cases from the last 21 days. In this zone, restrictions will be quite less but there will be a proper inspection. However, the use of air, rail, and road will be permitted but only for purposes prescribed by the government.

MHA Allowed Liquor Shops To Open

After the announcement of the extension of National Lockdown for 2 weeks, MHA allowed liquor shops to function. The sale of liquor, paan, tobacco is allowed under certain conditions in all the zones, including the red zone.

Things To Be Taken Care Of:

  1. Minimum 6-feet distance shall be their (2 gaj ki doori)
  2. Maximum of 5 persons at a time will be allowed in order to avoid the crowd gathering.
  3. Proper precautions shall be used (use of masks, gloves and sanitizers)

As per the new guidelines by the Home Ministry, the movement of individuals for all the non-essential activities shall remain strictly prohibited between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. during the lockdown. Also read

The Ministry of Health Affairs okay with the special trains for the migrants on the occasion of Labour’s Day (May 1) but under certain terms and conditions. Now, students, migrant workers, tourists and other people stuck across the country can go back to their homes using these trains.

Some features of this service are: 

  1. These trains will follow some standard protocols provided by the government.
  2. Meals will be provided by the originating station to the long route passenger.
  3. On arrival, proper screening and quarantine arrangements will be provided, if necessary.

As the state estimates, around 10 million migrant laborers are stuck across the country. The movement of these many people might require around 500,000 busses if the Centre’s social distancing norms are strictly enforced and they are transported around the same time.
